Do I need experience to participate in this event?
The simple answer is no, however, you should have a basic knowledge of lifting. We will be holding training sessions to ensure everyone is on the same playing field with the proper form and efficacy for the movements.

Are spectators allowed?
Yes, of course!  We just ask that they all follow the guidelines set forth the day of the event to ensure their safety and that of the competitors.

Are children allowed as spectators?
Sure, we just ask that they adhere to the rules for their safety and the safety of the competitors.

Will there be food?
We are providing some light snacks but Pizza Pros right next to the gym.  We are trying to secure an on-site food truck or something similar for purchase.

Do I need to be a Sussex County resident to register for the event?
I mean preferably, but no.  This event is open to any and all competitors.

What are the prizes?
There will be a cash prize for the person crowned “Strongest of Sussex” (male or female) who has the most points in all events.  There are 1st place prizes as well for Men 18-49, Women 18-49, Masters Men 50+, Women 50+.  These prizes are TBD at this time.

What if I don’t know how to do the events listed?
Don’t worry, we will be holding training sessions on Saturday 10am-12pm & Wednesday evenings 6:45pm-8:00pm between 10/30-11/17 to ensure you know how to perform each event safely and effectively.  The fee for these sessions is as follows:  $150 for all 6 sessions or $30 per session.

Will you be holding training sessions beforehand?
Yes!  We will be holding training sessions on Saturday 10am-12pm & Wednesday evenings 6:45pm-8:00pm between 10/30-11/17 to ensure you know how to perform each event safely and effectively.  The fee for these sessions is as follows:  $125 for all 6 sessions or $30 per single session.

How does the Deadlift ladder and DB Snatch ladder work?
You must perform 3 reps of each weight properly before you can move to the next barbell or dumbbell.  Should you miss a rep (rules and standards will be provided to you ahead of time and at the training sessions), you will have one chance to correct it.  Should that rep be called a second time, you will be finished and the last successfully completed 3 reps will count toward your overall points.

What happens if there is a tie?
Should there be a tie in any of the events, a tie-breaker will be performed between the two competitors.  For example, if there is a tie for the heaviest deadlift, each competitor will have a chance to break that tie by performing as many deadlifts as possible in 2 minutes at a reduced weight.
